Summary: "On October 17th, I received a call from a book publisher, Dorrance Publishing Company. And I finally found two candidates that can do voiceovers to narrate bits of the unfinished book: "Mr. Reyna's Journal." At the conclusion of this blog, I'll explain why I'm writing my first book."
After my 21st birthday, my first publisher reached out to me. Dorrance Publishing Company is the publisher's name and has been around since the 1920s. One of their staff member, Mary Ferragonio, called me to speak about my first unfinished book, "Mr. Reyna's Journal." We discussed the book the whole time on the phone call as I answered her questions.
However, while I was speaking to Mary over the phone, she asked me when I would send my unfinished book to their company so they could review it. In answer to that question, my first book is not ready to be sent to any publishers yet. It's possible that the book won't be finished until 2024. " Mr. Reyna's Journal," the book I'm currently writing, is still in its early stages. As I'm typing this post, I'm still working on finishing and polishing the first draft, which means putting the storylines together smoothly, adding more plot twists, giving the characters their own unique personalities, etc. I'm trying to finish the first draft, and I've also been really busy with other things. This makes progress on the book's first draft a bit slower than usual because:
I've been working more hours at work recently.
School had started, meaning I had a lot of assignments and studying to do.
I'm currently writing my second book, which is my second project.
I was taking care of my health.
Voiceovers/Audio Book. Another good thing about last month that happened is that I finally found two candidates that can do voiceovers to narrate bits of my unfinished book: "Mr. Reyna's Journal." I plan to have both candidates email me their voiceover recordings. Most likely, they will read the book's summary as a starting point. Then, I'll decide which candidate will be the best suitable voice for the main character, Peter Reyna.
I want a young male narrator that will give out that impression of the main character and will make the reader say to themselves, "Hey, that's Peter Reyna!" when they hear the narrator's voice. The main character is a teenager who grew up from age 16 to19 a young adult. This explains why a young voice will be suitable for narrating the book.
Both of the candidates are my best buddies that I grew up with in Highschool. The narrator I was looking for was someone who could pronounce words perfectly and have an excellent tone of voice. And I do believe both candidates can fulfill that role perfectly. Perhaps by February 2023, I expect to have posted their voice recording on my YouTube channel. I'm not in a rush about this at the moment.
My birthday had passed, which was on October 16th. I wanted to say that I'm very proud of myself. I told myself before turning 21, in my early teen years, that I wanted to write my first book. I made a promise to myself when I was 20 years old in March 2022, after my dog had died and I was dealing with a heavy heartbreak from it. It's been 7 months and 19 days since his death from today. (01/1/2012 - 03/14/2022). I took his death to heart for many reasons.
But instead of me being sour and bitter about it, instead of complaining about the world on social media, and instead of me remaining in bed to grieve and feel sorry for myself, I didn't do any of that. I decided to recognize the problem and seek for help. And self-care was the solution for me to heal within. So I decided to turn that bad energy into something good by using it to write my first book. This is why writing my first book means so much to me. Hence, writing my first unfinished and unpublished book helped me fill that void when life was hard and after I lost my dog.
So I made a promise to myself that I would finish my first novel with as many written chapters as I could by the time I turned 21, and I didn't break that vow. By October 16, 2022, I had written more than 83,000 words and finished 60 chapters, meeting the countdown to the promised day. And to be honest, reaching that goal of writing sixty chapters with more than 83,000 words was the most beautiful present I gave to myself for my 21st birthday.
"Thank you 4 reading this!"
I wanna thanks the people who took their time to read this, which is you! Thank you for reading this post! And thank you if anyone has read my other posts. And a big thank you to all who read the book summary! That means the world to me! Even if one person had read it, it still means a lot!
