Lacey Fletcher’s Homicide Case
Lacey Fletcher's body was discovered "melted" on a sofa in her Slaughter, Louisiana, home on Jan. 3, 2022. Maggots crawled all over her, bed sores reached the bone, and she was covered in feces and urine from head to toe and in her hair for 12 years.

Reports said 36 years-old Lacey suffered from locked-in syndrome, which prevented her from moving. Her parents, Clay and Sheila Fletcher, left her on the family sofa since around 2010, where she slept, ate, and went to the bathroom without ever being bathed.
Lacey's mother contacted the police after she stopped breathing on Jan. 3, 2022. When authorities arrived, they found Lacey's body covered in feces and sinking into the sofa. The coroner reported that the inside of their home smelled like a "sewer," reeking of "death.
The Horrific Neglect of Lacey Fletcher
Clay and Sheila Fletcher were arrested for negligence after their daughter was found living in her waste for 12 years, "melted" into the couch. Lacey's tragic death, marked by severe neglect, left her last core memory as the heartbreaking betrayal by her parents.
Lacey's autopsy revealed she died from starvation, with bits of sofa cushion and feces was found in her stomach, indicating she ate whatever she could due to extreme hunger.
So I’m glad her parents are imprisoned to this day because I cannot understand how they ignored Lacey using the bathroom on herself and lying in her feces for 12 years, to the point where the home smelled so bad for so long that the parents became immune to it.
Taking care of a family member who needs 24/7 supervision is undoubtedly challenging, but it doesn't justify leaving their daughter on the sofa for 12 years, where they neglected her so severely that she was left to rot, be eaten alive by bugs, and wither away before dying.
